Back to Poland

Feb 6,

This week was intense, as all work weeks are whether you are traveling or not, but it was a good one. I got to go back to Lodz, and see our plant and my old team, and they did an early celebration for my upcoming 20th work anniversary. Poland was crazy cold, just like Cincinnati and maybe even a bit worse, but we were mostly inside anyway. Poland has always been good to me, and this week was no different.

Barcelona with my girl!

Feb 1,

Thanks to a work trip I had to Warsaw, I was able to leave a few days early, change my itinerary, and go spend a few days with my girl in Barcelona. I was so happy to see her, I see her dorm, and see how well she is doing. Both navigating the city and settling in general. We walked a lot, ate some good meals, went shopping, and did some touristy things. The weather couldn’t have been more beautiful, in the mid 50s, especially after how cold it has been in Cincinnati. Of course, since everything is relative, while Sofia and I were walking around with just a sweater, the locals were wearing coats and some even puffy jackets.

Abuelita’s Birthday

Jan 25,

Abuelita’s birthday was today, but we celebrated yesterday since today we were supposed to get a ton of snow - and we did. I am glad I thought of getting the cake ahead of time, since everything was closed today and we were snowed in.

Sofia in Austria

Jan 17,

For her very first weekend trip, Sofifi went to Austria.

Taking down Christmas

Jan 10,

Lionel comes back tomorrow, so today I took Christmas down mostly by myself, with a bit of help from Bella. It was my second weekend in a row of cleaning non-stop. I was glad for the cleaning and organizing to be over.

Zootopia

Jan 9,

After being sick all week, Bella finally got better and went to school this morning. And tonight we gave ourselves the gift of going to the movies to see Zootopia.

Dia de Reyes

Jan 6,

My sweet Bella got super sick this week, which was particularly challenging as we were by ourselves, but we didn’t skip our Dia de Reyes and Rosca celebration. Since she was sick she couldn’t go to abuelitos, but I dropped by real quick to take some rosca to them.

Concha

Jan 5,

Today Bella and I went to get our Rosca de Reyes, and also got some conchas. Yummy. Conchas are a favorite.

Paris

Jan 4,

Before heading to Barcelona, Lionel and Sofia spent a few days in Paris. They went to the top of the Eiffel Tower, which we hadn’t done since her first time in Paris, when she was little. I went digging for those old photos. It seems like yesterday, but it was 18 years ago.

Krohn Conservatory

Jan 3,

Abuelita and I keeping the tradition by ourselves. We didn’t manage to go there before the new year, but got there right before it closed for the season.

Sauna!

Jan 3,

Since Lionel’s research indicated that putting a sauna in the garage may not work so well, we had to drop the idea. But when I found this portable one at a store, for $100, I had to give it a try. I am happy to report that it works, and I love the convenience.

All about cleaning

Jan 2,

My sweet Sofifi left a mess in the top floor, including things that needed to be donated, and things that needed to be moved to the garage. Today I spent a good amount of time organizing it all, so her room is nice and welcoming when she comes back.
