Perfect North

Today we went to Perfect North for the first, but hopefully not the last time this fall/winter season. Being the ski "snob" that he is, Lionel was probably not that excited, but he went along with us without complaining ... at least until we got there. Apparently it was news to him that girls usually go to the bathroom multiple times, including before and after lunch - and he found it annoying.

We probably skied 3 hours max, alternating between a green and a blue run so the kids could practice their turns. Bella did well for the most part, except for a few times when she decided turning was boring and it was better to just go straight. Sofia fell a few times and once started to get whiny, but put quickly put herself together and had a great time.

Uplifting

Here is the uplifting conversation from Thursday night, as the girls and I were on our way to Friends night for the first time in a while:

Sofia: "I learned today that a Cobra's poison will not kill you, but will make you blind. So mami, would you prefer to go blind or just die?"

I didn't respond to her then, and I refuse to think about it even now.

Unbelievable

When I say or think that my kids are unbelievable it is not always meant as a compliment. Earlier this week, for instance, they got into a little argument because they disagreed on the color of the toothpaste. Yep, good times!

Let it snow

This week we had our very first true snow fall. That came with school closings on Friday, which fortunately wasn't a big deal because I was already planning to work from home. And the girls enjoyed their extra day off, even though we had Bella's annual checkup in the afternoon which came with not one, but three shots.

Dance Recital

This past Tuesday Bella had her very first mini dance recital. It wasn't a recital per se, but it was the last class of the session so the girls did a short dance routine. I actually thought the last class was next week, so I am glad I was able to get out of work on time, and we didn't miss it.

Christmas decorations

Today we put up our Christmas decorations with a new, smaller Christmas tree. Our previous tree was too large and we no longer had room for it with our new couch. But the new one is just fine. It is hard to believe that today is already Dec 1st, but on the plus side that means that our long Christmas break is only 3 weeks away.

The family skiing

Sofia made this drawing this morning. We had told the kids we would go to Perfect North today, so I guess she was looking forward to it. Unfortunately we couldn't go because the weather warmed up, so we ended up spending the day doing chores and putting our Christmas decorations up.
