Mami-Bella Day

Jan 5,

Today we finally had our Mami-Bella day. We got lucky because it was sunny and another relatively warm day. We first worked a bit more on our dress, and then went out for lunch at Deweys. Surprisingly it was not packed - or maybe we beat the rush - so we got out of there relatively quickly. Bella wanted to go to King Arthur's Court, because she still had a gift certificate from her birthday, so we did. We were there for a little while, and she ended up getting a Chemistry Set - which I approved of. Since we still had time, we went to the Lego store at the mall to get some tan bricks. We are going to use them to build a Lego replica of our house. That is a project for another day though.

First run

Jan 5,

This morning I finally completed my first run of the year. Since it was my first run after getting sick it was a short, slow, indoor run. But it was a run.

Last day of break

Jan 4,

Today was the last day of our break, which was super sad. But I think we really made it count. While the forecast accurately called for rain in the afternoon, the morning was sunny and beautiful. We walked to Coffee Emporium with Zoey, and came back through Victoria street. We had lunch at home, and before the rain came I made the girls help pick up leaves in the back of the house. I did it partially because we had not cleaned that side of the house yet, partially because the weather was too mild for early January and we had to take advantage of it, and partially to keep them away from electronics a little bit longer. We also ended up sweeping the driveway - although that ended up being mostly me while the girls played some basketball.

Since the afternoon would be rainy, and the girls wouldn't be able to play in our trampoline, they wanted to go to Sky Zone. So we did. As it turns out, according to our Facebook memories, we were also there last year. There was a good crowd, but it was not too bad. And it was a really good workout for the girls. Not a bad way to close out our break.

Thursday activities

Jan 3,

Today I was finally healthy enough again to see my parents, so we went out for lunch together. Afterwards the girls and I went to JoAnn to buy fabric and a pattern. For our Bella-Mami day she chose to make a dress together as the main activity, and we wanted to get a head start.  I have never made a dress before, which she knows, so this afternoon we also watched a few YouTube videos to learn how to use the pattern. We have a lot of work ahead of us, but we got some good tips to get us started.

Museum Center

Jan 2,

Sofia had been wanting to go to Museum Center, and we finally made it there today. She wanted to see the train and Lego exhibits. Lionel went back to work, so it was just the 3 of us. We hand't been there in a while, since it had been under construction, so it was nice to be back.

After Museum Center we had lunch at Panera, which was also the girls' choice. We then ran a few errands, which was fine with me. It was nice to be healthy enough for that.

Jan 1

Jan 1,

Since I have been sick the last few days I couldn't start the year running, so I did the next best thing and took Zoey for a long walk. She enjoyed the walk, and I desperately needed the fresh air.  After, since I was finally able to keep my eyes open, we went out for lunch. Sofia usually loves staying at home, but after 5 days of doing nothing even she was ready to get out of here. The weather was mild, but the wind got really cold by the time we walked back to the car. Still, we took a couple of pictures by the big Christmas tree before heading back.

Good bye 2018

Dec 31,

Since I was sick, and not feeling particularly festive, we didn't really do much to celebrate the new year. But Bella made a cake, Sofia made our new year sign, and we made the effort to try to take a decent picture to keep the tradition.
