Home Schooling - Day 37

May 5,

Today has been cold and super gloomy. Not exactly the type of day we would expect for early May. Still, we pushed through.

Bella did make me a yummy breakfast, and since it is day 2 of Mother's Day Week she also made me a poster with pictures of my different roles in life. At least the ones she recognizes. That was really sweet.

For family walk Sofia did come along this time around, but Bella decided not to come. And since the weather was kind of bad, we decided not to push. Besides, it looked like Sofia was the one that needed the walk the most.

Home Schooling - Day 36

May 4,

Today was sunny and warm part of the day. Unfortunately it was the part of the day when I was working, and by the time I finished it was cloudy and less warm. At least it wasn't so bad. Lionel and I still went on the family walk, and on the way back the girls and I played some tennis in the front yard. Both of them had been inside all day, so although the weather was not ideal I played for me and for them. The dog also came out to play.

During the day Bella brought me some chocolates. She made them herself. She said that since I work so hard, instead of Mother's Day I am going to have Mother's week. So sweet, my Bella girl.

Rainy day

May 3,

Today has been raining all day, so Zoey and I had two really wet morning and afternoon walks. The grass looks green, and the plants look happy everywhere, but walking in the rain is definitely a chore.

I also worked on our little plants for a while. Last week Bella and I took some of them out because it was not supposed to get cold again. But it did, and most of them died. So I am not going to take the other ones out yet. I just moved them to bigger containers, and spaced them out a bit more so they have space to grow.

Favorites

May 2,

I really like living in Hyde Park, and I really like our house. I am comfortable here. But there are 2 spots I probably like the most. The front yard, and the wall where we have the posters of our big family trips. The front yard is very peaceful, and looks beautiful with all that green. And I love looking at the posters because they capture the girls growing up over the years, and those rare times away from work, and away from the routine, where it was only the 4 of us. I don't know when travel with go back to normal, or what that new normal might be, so I also feel extremely lucky for all those trips we have already completed and all those places we have already seen.

Together

May 2,

Today the girls and I put our face masks on, and abuelitos put their face masks on, and we went to visit them for the first time in 6 or 7 weeks. The weather was beautiful, so we were able to hang out outside for a little while. Bella made them some cookies, and we brought them in a pretty jar.

On our way back we drove by our old house, and got ice cream to go from our usual spot.

Beautiful Morning

May 2,

Today was the most beautiful morning for a 6.5 mile run. It was still a slow run for my former standards, but I felt good and strong.

Home Schooling - Day 35

May 1st,

And just like that, April is over. And today, the very first day or May, was the best day ever! All of Latin America and most of Europe were on Holiday, which means it was a quiet day. For the first time in probably over a year I only had 2 meetings. So instead of frantically running around from meeting to meeting, I actually had time to hear myself think. And it was beautiful, and peaceful, and productive.

The morning was cloudy, but the sun came out in the afternoon. It warmed up a lot, so I very much enjoyed our walk. Playgrounds are still closed, and public benches have yellow tape around them, but we were just walking by anyway.  On our way back we also saw that a house down the street, that has been abandoned for about 20 years according to the neighbors, is starting to be taken down. The overgrown bushes in front of it are gone, and so is the glass in the windows.  A brand new construction is going in there. We just hope it will not be a modern house that looks completely out of place.
