This morning Lionel and I took the girls for a 3 mile walk around the neighborhood. It was a nice fall morning. Sunny, and not too cold.
This is a blog about my random thoughts, my life as a wife and working mother, my happiness, my occasional sadness, and everything in between.

Our girl likes her bed. She also attacks it when we are not watching, but she likes it and clearly is comfortable in it.

We missed Sofia during my birthday celebration, my first ever without her (at least since she was born), but at least we picked up a few new faces. My friend Cheryl was in town and she was staying with us. For lunch I went out with my co-workers, and for dinner Lionel, Bella, Cheryl, and I went to a restaurant called Tempo. We liked it. And of course we cut cake afterwards - one of my most cherished birthday traditions.

Today Bella's team played against Wellesley. It was cold, and there was some light rain, which was not the best combination. At least they won and I didn't get sick from it.

This weekend Bella and I went back to Cincinnati for the Queen Bee Half Marathon. Actually I was supposed to go by myself, but we decided to take Bella with me to give her a break, since she hasn't really made friends just yet and she has been lonely. On Friday we got up at 4:30 am to take the 7:00 am flight, and had our whole day planned out. Unfortunately our flight was delayed by 3.5 hours, and that messed up our whole day. We didn't have time to see my parents first, I showed up at 2:00 pm for lunch with my friends, and I picked up my packet at the end of the day, 1 hour before they closed the expo.
Luckily, the rest of the weekend was just great. It was a great reminder for both of us of how it feels to "fit right in". I let Bella spend most of the time with her friends, and I stayed with an old friend of mine who was also running the race. It was the 10th anniversary of the race and I have done each one of them, so even though I didn't finish my training - due to travel and getting sick 2 weeks in a row - I knew I could cross the finish line one way or another. Unfortunately, but not surprisingly, I had a bad cramp at mile 12 and had to walk across the finish line. Not the best, making it my worst time ever, but at least I finished and maintained my streak.
Before the weekend was over I also made a quick stop by our old house, by Coffee Emporium - our favorite coffee house - and Bella and I went to see my parents. And fortunately we experienced no delays on the flight back. We made it back on time to have a late dinner, go to bed, and start the week all over again the next day.

This morning I took a 1 hour walk with the girls and afterward was finally able to run after 2 weekends of a forced break (first because of the finger, and then because of the cold). It was not pretty, and it was not easy, but I managed to finish 8 miles on the treadmill. Since I was not sure how well I was going to feel, I decided to run inside. It was a beautiful fall day, and I was tempted to run outside, but I knew I had to play it safe. This coming week is going to be crazy busy again, and Friday morning is my flight to Cincinnati, so I think that was my last run before the Queen Bee. I don't think I am going to have my best time ever, but I will just be happy with crossing the finish line.

Today we had Mami-Bella day. We went to Chick-fil-a for lunch, which is a special treat because there is not one nearby. She chose to do the drive-thru and eat in the car. We then went to Dicks, Barnes and Noble, Sephora, and a few other stores. The weather was relatively warm, so it was nice to be walking around - especially since we were not in a hurry and could take our time.

This week we spent a couple of days in Cape Cod for a team offsite. The weather was very warm, probably unusually for this time of year, but we didn't have much time outside. We spent most of it in a conference room. Still, we had time for team building and managed to get some good team photos before we headed back.

Today I finally got my Massachusetts drivers license in the mail. So glad to finally have that out of the way.

Today I worked from home, while I was still recovering from the cold, and at lunchtime I went with Bella to grab a coffee at the Starbucks by her school. Then, in the afternoon, Lionel and I went to her soccer game. It was pretty warm outside, until the sun went down.

My Europe trip to the UK and Germany was everything I expected it to be. Productive, lots of learning, and great for team building, but also with very long days and little to no time to rest. We were go, go go, until I came back on Saturday evening. Unfortunately I also came back with a nasty cold, and spent all Sunday in bed - literally.
