Second [back to] Boston Week

Sep 14,

This is my second week back to Boston, and I am happy to be here. I am also making the most out of it, knowing that my time here is limited.

I arrived on Tuesday morning and went straight to the office. This time around I am staying with grandma and grandpa and took an Uber to their house at the end of the workday. I had to get up at 3:30am to catch my 6:00am flight, so it was an early night.

On Wednesday afternoon I had a happy hour with people from work, and Thursday night Cheryl, me, and a couple others played pickleball and had dinner nearby. On Friday I ran to the office, did some weights in the gym, and ran back to get ready for the workday. I was pretty much alone in the office, but I enjoyed the walk there and back. And the walk right after dinner.

On Saturday morning I finally took myself to Castle Island, which I never had a chance to visit while we lived here. I did a 6.5 mile run and then walked the 3.5 miles back. It was a beautiful day, with perfect running weather, and perfect to be out and about. I was happy to be there, surrounded by water and taking it all in without having to rush back.

This morning I walked to the gym at work, ran 1 mile to loosen my legs after yesterday's long run, did some weights, and walked back. And this afternoon grandpa and I did another 5.2 mile walk through the Commons, Newbury Street, the Charles River Esplanade, and North Side. We were also lucky to have beautiful sunny, but not too hot, weather for that.

Tomorrow is back to the office, and Tuesday afternoon I head back to Cincinnati.

Old photos

Sep 9,

A couple of old photos unearthed by grandma and grandpa. The first one I had not seen in a while. The second I had never seen. Grandma looking good.

Blooming

Sep 5,

For the first time in a long time, my bugambilia is blooming. It is safe to say that she likes her new spot in the balcony.

Evening light

Sep 2,

Now that we have an outdoor table, we had dinner outside. While we ate, Kika enjoyed looking out at the park in the evening light.

Labor day

Sep 1,

Gabi and her family left early today. After they left, Lionel and I took Kika for a walk, I got busy cleaning and getting ready for the week, and Lionel put together our outdoor dining table and chairs. They look really nice and are perfect for the space.

Family Time

Aug 31,

This weekend Gabi and her family came to spend the weekend with us. It was great to see them and welcome them in the new house. The boys watched sports, played pickleball, we went to the FC game, and spent time with my parents. We even got the see some of the Labor Day fireworks from our top balcony. It was kind of weird to see them but not hear them, but it was definitely better than going downtown and dealing with the crowds.

6 miles

Aug 30,

This morning I went out and ran 6 miles. While the route overall is not as pretty as when we lived in Hyde Park, or when I ran in Commonwealth Avenue, I do get some views of the river along the way. And since I once again live so far from the ocean, that feels like at least it is a consolation prize.

First [back to] Boston Week

Aug 29,

True to my word that I would be back once per month, this week I was back in Boston for work. My Italian nephews were visiting and staying with my in-laws, so I stayed with my friend Cheryl all week. I was glad to be back, see friendly faces, and enjoy some normal by working from the office that has been home for the past two weeks. I even got to see fireworks on Thursday night, after having family dinner.

FC Game

Aug 23,

While Bella was out and about with her friends. Lionel and I went to the FCC game.

First run from our new home

Aug 23,

After spending the week recovering physically and mentally from the move, today I ventured outside to run for the first time from our new house.

First day of Jr year

Aug 20,

Today was the first day of school for Cincinnati Public Schools, and Bella's first day back at Walnut Hills. She is ready for her junior year, and so incredibly happy and excited to be back home. Fingers crossed that the year is everything she is hoping for!
