This is my favorite view of my new running route, by the new house. For some reason this exact spot transports me somewhere else. It makes me thing of the south of France.

Quinceanera

Tonight we went to the Quinceanera party of one of my friend's daughter. We have known her since she was a baby. It was a really nice party, and I was grateful to be included, but it was also difficult as, for one reason or another, we didn't do something special for our own girls when they turned 15. Different traditions, and different life circumstances. Sofia turned 15 right in the thick of the pandemic, and Bella had just arrived in Boston and we hardly knew anyone. But both are loved so much, and I hope they always know it.

This morning I went to a Halloween-themed 5K with some friends. It was a beautiful day. It got a little hot towards the end, but it was nice to be out there. Not a bad day to start the day.

Last Poland trip for now

This past week I was in Poland for work. We flew into Warsaw, and I went to Lodz for a day to visit my team. I am switching jobs on Nov 1st, and I don't think my new team has people in Poland, so it is good bye for now. I have always loved my trips there, so hoping to be back sometime.
River walk

In our new house, we live close to the river. And going towards the river is definitely Kika's favorite walk. We can only go there over the weekend, when we are not rushing and we can enjoy the morning walk and the morning light.
Sabbatical Post

A few weeks ago, at work, they asked me if I would be ok if my sabbatical story got published. They are trying to promote the company benefits to the outside world, so I said yes. I thought it would be posted in some obscure part of our website, but it was actually posted front page on LinkedIn. The sabbatical was a long time ago now, but it definitely remains one of the best decisions. So happy that I did this for myself and for the family.
