Flying Pig Marathon 2023

May 7,

Well, that was a rainy one. Today, for the very first time since I started running half marathons, we had to run in the rain - from beginning to end. At first it was just sprinkling, but at mile 2 it started absolutely pouring. There was so much water that every step you took, your shoes would get submerged in a giant puddle. Luckily I had kept my poncho with me (other runners ditched it when we started running) and that probably kept my airpods and my phone from getting ruined. It was definitely hotter running with it, so I took it off when the rain was not as bad.  But poncho or not, rain means wet feet and heavy shoes, which is definitely not ideal.

Running in that weather was tough physically and mentally, but once you are out there you are committed. And with thousands of others running by your side, you definitely feel less crazy.

At the end I successfully completed the race, my 18th Half Marathon, and even though it was my worst time ever, at a 10:44 pace, I was happy I completed it and that I was part of it.

Not sure when I will run another Flying Pig again, but I sure hope I can run 2 more half marathons to reach my goal of 20.

Flying Pig Expo 2023

May 6,

This afternoon Lionel and I made a quick trip to the Flying Pig Expo to pick up my packet. It was a quick in and out, so we even forgot to take a photo together. I must also share that I was very disappointed by the cotton t-shirt they handed out this year. The shirt is supposed to be of workout fabric, not cotton, which is very uncomfortable for working out. I will keep it only because I keep all the shirts from my races, but I will not be running while wearing it anytime soon.

Outside

 May 5,

Just a few moments outside, enjoying the decent weather with the girls.

Walnut Hills Seniors

May 4,

Our Sofia finally sent her picture to the Walnut Hills Seniors Instagram page. Took her forever because she couldn't find a photo she liked, but finally listened to and took Bella's suggestion.

Un-Pending

May 3,

Because sometimes progress is not linear,  our house is for sale once again. The people who had made an offer earlier were from out of town, never saw the house in person, were slow to respond, and eventually backed out. So like it or not, here we go again.

Prom

Apr 29,

After waiting for about 1 week, we finally got some pictures of Sofia's prom from last week. Better late than never. And even though we wish we had a photo of just her, photos with her friends are better than nothing. We are also happy that she went, and had a good time.

Boston Trip

Apr 29,

This past week I was in Boston for work. It was still cold, but not too bad. And it was a full, but very productive week. After sitting in conference rooms the entire day I got a couple of evening walks in to have dinner with Philippe and Monique. And I got to go to the Gillette stadium for the very first time and walk on the field. Since we were there for a meeting, they even displayed all our names on the big screen. And we got to meet a former player who brought his Super Bowl rings for show and tell.

Zoo Blooms ‘23

Apr 23,

Today we finally made it to Zoom Blooms. It was probably the last weekend the blooms would still be there, and definitely our last time before our move - which probably means our last time ever or in a very long time. With Sofia going to college, I don't expect the timing will work again.

I have always loved coming to the Zoo, especially in April and around Christmas time. The best place for kids and great family memories over the years.
