Today I picked up an additional project at work. The fact that I picked up an additional project, on top of an already full workload, doesn't really bother me that much. But the fact that I probably won't even be thanked for it, kind of does. So tonight, in order to get pass my initial disappointment, I had to have some of this.
This is a blog about my random thoughts, my life as a wife and working mother, my happiness, my occasional sadness, and everything in between.

Life as a rehearsal
Yesterday I was watching Bella during her dance class as they were practicing the routine they are learning - probably in preparation for their recital. While I was sitting there, it occurred to me that a big chunk on our life is kind of a rehearsal. The training for a marathon is like a rehearsal for the race day. The school year is like a rehearsal in preparation for final exams. College is like a rehearsal in preparation for our life at work. And it goes on, and on, and on.
Pretty hair
The other morning our cleaning lady arrived while we were still rushing to get out the door. Bella was still walking around with crazy hair, so she offered to do her hair. Bella said yes, and got herself a pretty nice hairdo. Of course she then decided to get a huge flower in her head, which maybe was a bit over the top ... but she still looked cute!
Birthday Party - Round 1
This past Sunday Bella had the first of four birthday parties she is invited to this month - not even counting hers. They had ponies and cupcake decorating, and the weather was good enough for the kids to run around outside. That was fun for them. I was personally hoping to be able to drop her off and pick her up later, but all other moms stayed there. So I felt obligated to stay as well. It is not like it was a terrible time for me, but it was certainly work trying to make small talk with all the other moms. It is a good thing that they were all really nice.

And I am finally back!
After two weeks trying to recover from the pace of things, and from a really bad cold that completely sucked the energy out of me, today I was finally back to working out. I went to cardiotennis, and after that I ran for 5 miles. I still didn't feel 100% during my run, but it was great to finally feel healthy again.
Halloween 2013
This year, more than any other year, Halloween really managed to sneak up on me. So I didn't spend any time decorating the front of the house, nor thinking how the girls would dress up for it. Luckily they were not particularly concerned about their costumes, so they were happy to choose from the ones I had in the basement, which I had bought at Target last year. They quickly chose matching "green fairy" outfits, which worked really well with white leggings and a white long sleeve shirt underneath.
The weather forecast called for rain, and even though some surrounding neighborhoods decided to postpone trick or treating by one day, our neighborhood went ahead with it right on Halloween. The evening was indeed a rainy one, but luckily it stopped raining for the bulk of the time the girls were out running around with Lionel. They did get a little wet towards the very end, but by then they were pretty close to the house. And being kids and all, they really didn't seem to mind.

Cumple Abuelito
This past Monday was my dad's birthday, and I was pleasantly surprised that after 63 years in this world, he finally decided that taking the day off was a well deserved treat. Since I was working from home, Bella is done with school at noon, and Sofia had stayed with me because she was sick, we all went out to lunch as a family. That also included my mom and Gabi. Then, in the evening, we quickly got together at my parent's house to cut cake. I had made a cake for my Dad the day before, and even though it didn't turn as pretty as I had hoped, he knew we made it with love.
