7 sunny miles, on a Saturday morning, along Commonwealth avenue.
This is a blog about my random thoughts, my life as a wife and working mother, my happiness, my occasional sadness, and everything in between.

This weekend we happily headed to Boulder to visit our Sofia. It was a quick trip, but it was worth it to go see her. We flew in Friday and Boulder welcomed us with sunny, warm weather. On Friday night, when we went to eat at Pearl street, we saw the "stampede" - kind of a parade ahead of the football game. We also ate at The Buff on Saturday morning - after a long wait, and went to the football game that evening. I am glad I went, but it definitely reconfirmed that going to football games is not my dream activity. Lionel said the game was kind of boring, not as entertaining as others, and where we were sitting I constantly lost track of the ball. So I was more entertained looking at the cheerleaders. At least it was not that cold, so we were not freezing.
Since we left early on Sunday we didn't get to see our Sofia before we left, but at least we knew we would see her in 3 weeks for Thanksgiving.

Today is my one year anniversary in the new role. I took this photo in the morning, on my way in. 1 year down, not sure how many more to go.

For Halloween we did not do much. I was not sure if people would dress up at work, so I found the middle ground between dong nothing and doing too much and took my cat ears to the office. There were some people that dressed up, but since I am on the phone all day I pretty much just put mine on for the photo. Bella dressed up as a little devil, and went to a party near the house for a little while. We were thinking about how that seems to be her go-to costume, as she has dressed up like that in the past. I guess that's just easy.
Lionel and I sat outside in the front porch with the neighbors for a little while, passing out candy. We didn't have a ton of kids, but it was not dead either. And I took all the leftover candy to work - because there is always someone there who'll eat it.

Since I was in Brazil during Abuelito's birthday I could not go see him, but Gabi went to Cincinnati and made sure she represented.

As I continue to visit our manufacturing plants around the world, this time around I headed to Manaus, Brazil with my friend and co-worker Cheryl. At 25 hrs of travel each way, it was definitely a long way there and back. And a lot of together time as we were together all day and shared a hotel - because it was full and we could only get one room. It was also extremely hot. I don't even sweat a lot, unless I am working out, but I would literally sweat just standing there. At some point, as we were walking around an indoor market with obviously no air conditioning, I was sweating so much that I was literally dripping.
So the trip was long, and the weather was ridiculously hot - and do not even get me started about the expense reports - but we also had a great trip. It was great meeting the team in person (they always appreciate it so much), seeing the site, and having some team building doing a couple of touristy things. We also went to a delicious restaurant called Caxiri that had a great ambiance and great food. Lionel would have hated the weather, but would have really appreciated that meal.
For our touristy day we went to see where the 2 rivers meet, we swam with dolphins (which really means they were floating around us), we held a sloth, and went to see a nearby indigenous tribe. We also went to see the Opera House and walked around downtown a bit.
Unfortunately my Portuguese did not come back during the trip, and surprisingly when given the option to speak Spanish or English, most of the locals chose English. But basically between English, some Spanish, and kind of sign language, we figured it out.
I do not know when I will be able to go back and visit my team, if ever, so I very much appreciated the opportunity to go - long trip, heat, and all.
