This Friday a friend of mine who is starting her photography business took some family pictures of us. I have yet to see all of them, but she posted a preview on Facebook and there were some really good ones. She did a great job, especially considering that we didn't have that much natural light left, and getting the girls to even look at the camera is such an accomplishment of sorts.
This is a blog about my random thoughts, my life as a wife and working mother, my happiness, my occasional sadness, and everything in between.

Drawing Straws
Earlier this week Lionel and I decided to draw straws to determine who would walk the dog, and who would give the girls a shower. I drew the short straw, so I got to stay and give them their shower. That was the short straw because the weather was nice, and walking Zoey meant quiet time while giving the girls a shower mean the total opposite.
Once the girls realized that I was the one giving them a shower they got really excited for me, as if I was the one "winning the prize". I didn't have the heart to tell them otherwise.
Tonight, when we came back home from dinner and the race, Bella told me: "We have to draw straws". I asked why, and she replied: "So that we can see who gets mami!". That was really sweet and it made me laugh.

10K Running Group
Gabi and I joined a 10K running group that started last week. I initially joined just to have somebody to run and practice with, not really thinking about running the 10K 7 weeks from now. But Gabi thinks that we should definitely try to prepare for the race. I am still thinking about it, but in the meantime I am not sure if I will make it tomorrow morning. Today I played tennis and ran the 5k, so I am not sure that tomorrow I will be eager to get up and do it all over again.

Reggae Run 2012
Tonight Gabi and I ran our third 5K of the year. Who would have thought that we could even run one ...
It took me 37 minutes to finish - even though I have been running 9.5 minute miles - but the first couple minutes we probably just wasted trying to get going since there were so many people and it was hard to find the space to move forward with so many people just walking the race. So I probably ran it in 35 minutes, which is exactly what took me to run the other two. But this one was very difficult, as most of it was running in giant hills. So I am happy with my time. My only goal was not to stop - even during the very steep hills - and I was able to make it all the way! Besides, it was good sister time.

Sands Carnival 2012
This afternoon was this year's Sands Carnival. Lionel and Sofia went ahead of Bella and me because I still needed to take a shower from playing tennis in the morning, and Bella had misbehaved - so she had to wait. We all walked because the weather was nice, the school is a 15 minute walk, and we knew that parking would probably be a challenge. During our walk Bella sang "I like to move it, move it. I like to move it, move it..." pretty much the entire time, but I eventually convinced her to sing something else. And even though she whined couple times about having to walk, she did walk the entire time.
When we finally got there Bella got a little cranky, and she didn't want to play any games, but Sofia seemed to be having a great time walking around with Dad. After a little while Bella warmed up and decided to go to the bounce house and play couple games, and she won a few tickets and was even able to get a prize.
Lionel worked for a little while at the booths for the girl's classrooms, and then we all headed home.

Sands Open House 2012
Last night we had Sand's open house, which is an opportunity for kids to show us parents their rooms, how they do their work, and give us a glimpse of their routine. Both girls were happy to show us around.
