This morning I was having a meeting with a new hire and helping her think about how to manage a work situation. At some point I mentioned to her that, although it would be great, we can't always get along great with everyone. Her response to that seemed very spontaneous and sincere, and kind of made my day. She said "I can't imagine someone not getting along with you!". Of course nobody is perfect, but it made me happy to think that she views me as someone who easily gets along with others. I definitely try my best to be nice to people - even when they don't always deserve it.
This is a blog about my random thoughts, my life as a wife and working mother, my happiness, my occasional sadness, and everything in between.

Swim meet #3
Jun 21,
Today's swim meet seemed to last forever. The sky was super dark, and at some point it started pouring, but the meet didn't get cancelled. It just got delayed. I was also tired, and didn't have time to stop by the house after work, so I am sure that also contributed to me feeling like the meet was the longest one ever. But the girls had fun, and Sofia even beat her previous butterfly personal record by 2 seconds. So as long as the girls keep enjoying it, I'll keep showing up.

A change in perspective
Jun 21,
For a while now I have been worrying about what is going to happen at work. Do they really see me as one of the future leaders of the company? Are they just telling me that so they get me to do more and more? Are they finally going to put me on the promotion list for the next level? The next big window of opportunity for me is this September, and as the date approaches the worry about it has increased more and more. But a couple of days ago it finally hit me that it is all good. No matter the outcome this coming September, I will be one step closer to one of my dreams. If they finally put me on that list I will be one step closer to fulfilling my career aspirations in my current company. If they do not, I will then be one step closer to fulfilling my desire to experience life in a different city. Because one thing is for sure: Status quo is not getting the best of me.

Special visitors

This afternoon Isabel and the girls came downtown to have lunch with me. They showed up a bit later than I expected, because Sofia took her sweet old time getting ready, but we still had time to go to Wicked Witch - a sandwich place they like a couple of blocks from my work. The weather was nice, so besides the company I enjoyed the walk back and forth.

Father's Day and Birthday Celebration
Father's day
Jun 18,
Today is father's day, and since we are usually bad at going to see Lionel play soccer - as in we never really go - he asked that we go see them today. We were not planning to take Zoey because it was hot outside and we didn't want to have to worry about her, but she sneaked out when we opened the door and pretty much refused to get back inside. She wanted to get in the car. So she came, and of course was hot the entire time. Good thing that by the time we got there it was already half time.
