This morning, as soon as I woke up, I jumped out of bed to go grocery shopping before the store got too busy. Wearing this mask is an absolute pain, and it makes me feel dirty and infected, especially since some people are still not following instructions and are walking around the store without one. So I didn't linger. I grabbed what I needed and got out of there as soon as I could. Some sections at the stores are still really bare, but luckily there is no shortage of food.
Then, when I got home, I grabbed my sewing basket, an old pillowcase, and looked up instructions on how to make face masks at home for the girls. The picture I took of them illustrates exactly how they are feeling right now about this whole thing. Bella is still doing Ok, but Sofia is starting to struggle. She feels lonely, and is disappointed about all the school activities that got cancelled - including their school Chicago trip. That trip was scheduled for this coming week, and their lacrosse season would be happening right now, so it very present for her all the things she is missing out on.
This is a blog about my random thoughts, my life as a wife and working mother, my happiness, my occasional sadness, and everything in between.

Morning Run
Apr 18,
Last night I slept a record setting (for me, anyway) 11 hours. After that I definitely felt like I should get a run in, so I did. 6.26 miles around the neighborhood. It was cold, but also kind of sunny. During my run I saw a bird just standing on a fence, and it didn't move while I took a picture. On my way back I also saw that our purple tree that has finally bloomed. Like all the other spring-blooming trees it will not stay like that for long, but right now it looks really pretty.

Home Schooling - Day 25
Apr 17,
5 weeks at home. Today was a cold, gloomy, rainy day, so I didn't feel like I was missing much outside. Bella made breakfast and lunch, did some school work, Lionel and I worked, and Sofia did homework.
Instead of a family walk, today we did a family drive. But I did walk for 30 minutes on the treadmill after dinner. After sitting around all day I really needed to move around.

Home Schooling - Day 24
Apr 16,
Today was another long day of work, and it was cool outside. But the sun also came out. Order was restored and we all went on the family walk. We then played a bit of volleyball, made dinner, and played cards.

Home Schooling - Day 23
Apr 15,
All about the food. My breakfast by Bella. Lunch for all by Bella. Home made bread by Bella. We also cooked dinner together. Family walk only included Lionel, Zoey, and me. And it was a quick one since it was about to rain.

Home Schooling - Day 22 - Blah
Apr 14,
Today was kind of a frustrating day at work. Nothing particularly horrible, but just plain frustrating. I even forgot to take a picture of the breakfast Bella made me: A yummy waffle from the ones we made yesterday.
The highlight of the day was probably Bella making me a "#1 Mami" badge, since working a lot makes me feel like anything but that. We also took our family walk at the end of the day, although Sofia could not come because she was in French class.
During dinner the dog took her usual spot under the table, leaving me very little room for my feet. For some odd reason that is her favorite spot. She also participated in our balloon playing session. She is always around when we have balloons, and we can not tell whether it is because she loves them or hates them.
