Donuts!
Tonight the girls and I made our healthy donuts which included carrots, beets, and chocolate. Sounds weird, but they turned out yummy. They will be our breakfast for tomorrow.

Donas
This may seem completely out of character for me, but I got myself a brand new donut maker. No, I am not planning to bake the greasy type. I found some healthy donut recipes, and I am going to check them out. I figured the girls will appreciate the donut shape, and will be willing to give them a try.
No deer allowed
Since we have so many deer in our neighborhood, and they like to eat what they shouldn't, yesterday I installed some protective nets around my new trees. I also started working on the structures I will be putting on top of my vegetable garden, to protect it from the deer and other hungry critters. Sofia even helped me with that last part. The girls then did a little drawing with chalk before we headed back inside. And did I mention that my lettuce and radishes are already growing in their little containers, waiting for their time to be planted outside?

Our trees
Today Sofia and I planted the two fruit trees I had bought last weekend. One is an apple tree, and the other one is for nectarines. It was A LOT of work, but I was looking forward to planting them and starting to see them grow. We also removed all the grass and weeds that had grown on the vegetable garden the previous owners left behind. We were out there for a long while. At some point Bella came up to say hi and help for like 2 seconds, but Sofia was definitely my big helper.
Primera comunion
Today was my Sofia's first communion, and as it should be it was a family affair. She looked so pretty in her white outfit - such a little lady.
Play Dough Olaf
Yesterday afternoon Sofia helped Bella do her homework, which consisted of making a bug and its habitat out of play dough. With the leftovers, Sofia made an Olaf and what I believe was a flying pig. Only Olaf is featured in this picture since it was her favorite.
Tennis class
Yesterday morning Bella decided that she was taking the tennis class right after Sofia, instead of Lionel or me. You never know with her, but despite all the silliness she actually did really well.
Goddard Spring Carnival
Just in case International night wasn't enough, the very next day was the Goddard School Carnival. The girls wanted to go, so we did. Bella was excited to see his friend Russell, since they both liked each other very much when they were at Goddard full time. We also saw Tios and other friends there, so there was a bit of adult catching up time.
International night at Sands
Thursday night was international night at Sands. We gave Lionel the night out since he wasn't feeling well, but the girls, Gabi, her boys, and I did go for a little while. They had different dancers, including some representing Africa. The African Dancers invited the kids to come to the stage and dance with them, and Bella was right among them. Sofia hung out with her friends, and Diego entertained himself running around all over the place.
Sick
My poor Sofia and Lionel had a rough week health wise as they both picked up a nasty cold. Lionel pushed through the entire week and went to work every single day, but Sofia left school early on Tuesday to go to the doctor, and on Wednesday she stayed home with me, wearing her PJs all day and trying to get some rest.

A case of the Mondays
Some days are definitely more trying than others, and today was one of those days. After having a terrible night sleep - because Lionel has a cold and Bella kept waking me up - I woke up this morning already exhausted, with a puffy phase, and puffy circles under my eyes. Sofia wasn't feeling well because she still has a cold, and wanted to stay home. But I had a meeting that I had to attend in person so I told her she had to go to school, at least for the morning, and that if she still didn't feel well later on she could go to the office, and ask them to give me a call. She asked if she could stay with Grandma and Grandpa, who are visiting, but I told her they had things to do during the day. She then asked if she could stay with Abuelita, but I reminded her that right now she can't be around Abuelita when she is sick. So alas, she agreed to go to school.
We managed to get out of the house on time, but then got stuck behind a truck that was sweeping the street, and therefore moving very slow. I then realized that I had left my cell phone at home, but there was no time to turn around. Every minute counted if I wanted to make it to my meeting on time.
When I dropped the girls off I reminded Sofia to have the school call her Dad instead of me if she felt sick. And I reassured her that he could then email me, and that I would come get her. Unfortunately, when we got to school we saw the before care group was playing outside, which was bad news since today wasn't particularly warm. But at least Sofia was wearing a warm sweater. Otherwise, both of us would have probably started to cry.
I ended up making it to my meeting on time, but I spent the entire day feeling anxious, wondering if Sofia was doing well, or if she was miserable and I would be hearing from the school. So after all my meetings were done, I left as soon as I could to pick up the girls and take them home. Sofia said it was an Ok day, that she was starting to feel bad later in the day, but that at that point she had decided to just hang in there. My poor girl. What a trying, trying day.

House picture
Since the weather was so nice and sunny on Saturday, I took couple good pictures of the new house. Check out the cute guard dog as well.
Pool party
Yesterday afternoon the girls and Diego went to a pool birthday party, and judging by their smiles they had a great time. Diego loved the water, and the girls loved the water slides. The adults didn't love it so much, because it was like a sauna in there, but all the kids had a great time and that is what counts. Gabi and I also liked the spring decorations, which consisted of some beautiful paper flowers.
Father-Daughter Dance 2015
Saturday night was this year's father-daughter dance at Sands. Unfortunately Sofia wasn't feeling very well, so she stayed at home with me. I at least convinced her to put her pretty dress on and take a few pictures with them. That cheered her up a bit. That and riding her bike down the street a couple of times after Lionel and Bella left for the dance.
Bella had promised to stay with Lionel at least for a little bit, but turns out they were empty promises. After taking their picture together, it appears Bella spent the entire time running around with her friend Cecilia. At least Lionel wasn't left by himself this time around. He spent quality time with Cecilia's dad who happens to be really nice.
