This is a blog about my random thoughts, my life as a wife and working mother, my happiness, my occasional sadness, and everything in between.

Dia de Reyes!!
Because my girls have been such little angels all year, the Reyes Magos came this morning and left couple treats for them. One of them was a mini Dream Light that Sofia had seen at the store earlier this week, but didn't have enough money to buy. At the time I told her she could save her money and go back later and get it, so she was very excited to get it this morning. Bella, of course, got a mini Dream Light as well. And since school was cancelled because of the cold front, the girls had plenty of time to play with them, and their other gifts, during the day.
We were planning on cutting Rosca in the afternoon, as every other year, but with the weather I figured we would no longer do it since I really didn't want to go out at all. But Tios braved the weather and brought the Rosca to us! We decided not to even ask Abuelitos to come, because we knew that there was no way they were going to expose themselves to this weather if they didn't have to. So we missed them, but were happy that at least part of the family was able to carry the tradition.

Birthday Party and Rosca
Today Lionel went to the Bengals game, and the girls and I were going to stay home all day ... but then my Friend Laura invited us to come over to celebrate her daughter's birthday, and to cut Rosca. Getting out of the house before the cold front comes, AND hanging out with friends? How could we say no to that!

Perfect North
Today we went to Perfect North to get out of the house before the cold front arrives, and so the girls could practice their skiing. Lionel, as usual, wasn't particularly excited about Perfect North itself, but he was a good sport. And the girls did really well. We spent the bulk of our time in the same runs as last time so the girls could get the hang of it again, but today we actually moved past those and checked out couple new ones. So next time we go back we will be able to expand our horizons, which will make it even more fun for the girls.
First day back to work
This year I wasn't able to take the full two weeks off, so my first day back to work was this Thursday. Having to go back while the girls were still on vacation was not ideal, but at least I was able to work from home ... and that helped soften the blow.

2014 - Day 1
Today we got up late again, late enough that after taking our time to get moving we skipped breakfast altogether and went straight to lunch. We then just hang out, and by the time we finally left the house it was close to 3:00 pm. Lionel went to the movies with Raj, and the girls and I went to Abuelitos' house to wish them a Happy New Year. We then went to Yagoot by ourselves because Gabi was supposed to come with us, but at the end couldn't because Diego was taking a late nap. After Yagoot we came back home and it was already time to start making dinner. The movie Lionel and Raj went to see was a long one, so by the time he came back it was close to 7:00 pm.
I was sad and disappointed that we ended up spending the afternoon by ourselves, because I couldn't help but to feel lonely - as if nobody loved me enough to drop everything else and spend this special day with me. I have always liked the Holidays, but as this year's vacation comes to a close I have become very aware of the fact that the Holidays make me stressed and turn me into kind of a needy and sappy mess.

New Year's Eve Dinner
Last night we went out to dinner to celebrate the last day of the year. We were about the only people with children at the restaurant, but the kids behaved well overall. And the place was noisy enough anyway, which helped so we didn't get any stares. After dinner we went straight home so the kids could go to bed, and we could welcome the New Year in the comfort of our couch. At this point in our lives we don't need to go out and party all night. Welcoming the new year next to our kids, safe and sound, is just fine!
