And it's a wrap!

Today was Sofia's last day of camp. When I picked her up she was crying because somebody "stole" from her something "very, very, very, very, special" that she bought at the rollerblading place during their last field trip. She was still all sad during her piano lesson, but eventually calmed down and enjoyed the rest of the day.

As a good bye gift, every kid got a picture of themselves in front of things that their camp leaders and friends wrote about them. I think it is a pretty cool idea, and I loved how Sofia's turned out.

New braces

Today Sofia got her new braces. She actually just got 2, which are seating kind of idle in her front teeth right now, but the bigger deal was that she got a jaw "expander" both at the top and at the bottom. It is a big metal thing for such a little mouth, but it didn't seem to hurt putting it on. It will be annoying for her to have it, until she gets used to it, but it is not expected to create any real pain or discomfort. And this is just the start - we'll have a long way ahead of us.

Date night

Last night Lionel and I had Date Night at the tennis tournament. Unfortunately the weather was unseasonably cold, and Lionel didn't even have a sweater on, so we had to cut it short. But before we left, we saw Martina Hingis play doubles, the first set of Nadal's match, a few points of Li Na's match, and the last set of  Marion Bartoli's which - little did we know- would end up being the very last match of her career. She lost big time, so it makes me sad that she will go out like that. But sounds like she has been in a lot of pain lately, so if that is the case then good for her for drawing the line and taking care of herself.

The 8 year old...

Sofia: "For Friday's field trip, we can dress in an 80's outfit if we want"
Me: "That sounds like fun!"
Sofia: "No, mom! Why would I EVER do that in public?!?"

Afternoon at the park

ATP Tournament - Kids day

The tennis tournament is this coming week, so this Saturday was Kids Day and we went with the girls and our neighbors. We probably spent more time walking around, getting water, going to the bathroom, getting a snow code, etc. than watching tennis, but it was still nice to take them there. We saw Sharapova practicing, and got to watch the end of a match between a French guy and somebody from the US.

When they went to bed, both of them picked it as one of their favorite part of the day.

Bella art - Drawings and Photographs

Just a sample of Bella's art, given that this has been a very prolific summer...
