Mexico - Day 3 - Around Town

 Jun 27,

This morning we had breakfast at the hotel and Gabi's high school friend Oscar stopped by to say hi and drop off the keys to his house - since he is kindly letting us stay there when we are in San Miguel. I am not exaggerating when I say that it had been at least 20 years since the last time I saw him. He stopped by with his girlfriend and her kids. They had a long drive ahead of them, so they did not stay long,

After breakfast we went to the Mercado de la Cruz, to walk around and check it out. We had nieve, some fruit, and bought some fruit to go. Our friends then picked us up from there and hung out with us all afternoon. We went to the Cerro de las Campanas and to visit our old University. Unfortunately, because of the pandemic, they did not let us in. So we just saw it from the outside. It is definitely much bigger now. And the surrounding area, which used to be just open space, is now completely developed.

We then drove around the city, and had an early dinner at a place that used to be a factory and  is now a brewery. By then it was past 7:00 pm. We came back to the hotel to rest, and our friends went back home to get ready for the week. We didn't say good bye quite yet though, as we will see them again before we go back home.
