Mexico 2021 - Day 9 - Hidden Treasures

 Jul 3,

If yesterday was a day of bad surprises, today was a day of good ones. Well, the gas situation was still an issue at the house, but we spent most of the day outside. We got our Covid tests, which we needed to be able to travel back home, and then we met our friends Max and Tiamat and hung out for the rest of the day. We first went somewhere to watch one of the soccer games, and then went to a nearby town called Atotonilco to check out a historical church. From there we went to a cute place in the middle of nowhere called "El Macehual" and parked ourselves there for the rest of the evening. It was quite the unexpected place, and we would have never known about it on our own. They normally have a full field of lavender, but unfortunately many of their plants got sick (due to some local worm) and they lost - according to their own account - 12,500 plants. They still had lavender margaritas, which were really good. And lavender bread, And the place was still full of charm. Bella, Diego, and Adrian had fun running around, and the adults had a great time catching up. We also took some good group pictures, which will be great to look at to remember this special evening. Even if we get together again in the future, days like this just can't be repeated.
