When we got to Monte Carlo we walked for a little while and had lunch, but then Sofia started feeling really bad. Either it came to her suddenly because of the heat and walking around, or she felt bad all along and hung in there also thinking she could make it work. It was pretty obvious that she wasn't faking it, so we quickly started to head back - which unfortunately still meant walking around. I was disappointed that we didn't make it to Monaco, but if Sofia was not feeling well the right thing to do was to go back and let her rest.
As we were walking back to the bus stop Bella also started to whine because she didn't want to go back home - she wanted to go to the beach. We explained to her that her sister didn't feel well, but she then said that maybe we could split from Sofia and Lionel, something I wasn't eager to do. We stopped by a small store to buy water, but since they also had ice cream both girls had some. We then found a fair/carnival of sorts, and both girls perked up a bit. They did couple of the activities, and at least that brought Sofia a smile. But we then had to rush to get back to the bus stop, as we didn't want to run the risk of missing the 4:00 pm bus and having to wait until the next one. Little did we know that the 4:00 pm would become the 4:30 pm and be extremely crowded. It was so crowded that you no longer expected to get a seat at some point during the drive - which we didn't . You were just happy to have a good standing spot and be able to hold on to the pole ... oh, and that people would move and let you out when it was your turn to do so.
When we got home Lionel went to get food for dinner - as clearly we were not going to go out - and we gave the girls a shower. But since Sofia wasn't feeling well at all, and everybody was exhausted and had a short fuse, there were couple meltdowns before the girls finally settled down in bed way past 10:00 pm.
Tomorrow we were supposed to go to Cannes, where I really, really wanted to go, but I think there is no way in God's green earth that is going to happen.
