It was a few weeks ago, when we were still working on our itinerary, that our new friends Marcus and Lara said her parents had a house in here, and told us they would be happy to let us stay for couple days. Since it was relatively close to Milan - just couple hours - and Milan was a confirmed stop, we decided to accept their offer. "It is a little rustic", they said and shared couple pictures of the place. But the pictures didn't do it justice as this is a really, really cool house. We are told it is about 300 years old, and although they have some modern conveniences, they didn't alter the essence of the place. If you look closely, in every corner there are little reminders that there is plenty of history in here.
Since it is not all that obvious how to get to the house from the main town, and we needed to get the keys, Lara's parents met us to guide us all the way here. We are glad they did, as the road is not only hidden. It is also narrow, steep and a little adventure of its own. When we got to the house they explained how everything works, and then welcomed us with prosciutto, melon, prosecco, and Swiss chocolate, while sitting at the terrace under the shade of grape vines. Seriously, it just doesn't get better than this!
