Europe Vacation 2022 - Day 9 - Bastille Day Parade

 Jul 14,

This morning we walked down to the Champs-Elysees to watch the Bastille Day Parade. It was the first time ever for all of us. Although Lionel grew up in Strasbourg, turns out they don’t have a parade anywhere else in France - it’s just the one in Paris. It was pretty crowded and we missed all the people walking in the parade, but we still saw the horses, the vehicles, and the planes. And we also saw the president driving by. The planes is what I wanted to watch the most anyway, and I was glad Lionel (and us) had the opportunity to be there for once. I also thought it was quite appropriate that we went to  Versailles yesterday Vs after the parade. After all, Bastille Day was all about getting rid of the monarchy and giving all French people freedom and equal rights.
